Opera In The City festival

Pamela Schermann and Sarah Lawrie are producing a spectacular festival at the Bridewell Theatre from 1-12 August, Opera In The City, transforming the venue into a home of new and innovative opera productions.

Mozart & Salieri / Zanetto
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s crime-thriller opera and Pietro Mascagni’s two-hander about a failed love, presented by Time Zone Theatre. (1, 3, and 4 August 7.30pm)
Andrew Bain’s acclaimed one-man show charts the life of sensational 1950s singer and movie star, Mario Lanza. (2 and 5 August 7.30pm)
A Florentine Tragedy
A new production of Alexander Zemlinsky’s opera with a libretto by Oscar Wilde. Presented by Time Zone Theatre. (7, 9, and 10 August 7.30pm)
Even you, lights, cannot hear me / Nero Monologues
A double-bill of new, bold, and experimental works by Simone Spagnolo and Sarah Toth, which combine art forms and push the boundaries of classical music. (8, 11, and 12 August 7.30pm)
